Speaking up for ourselves can be hard. According to social psychologist Adam Galinsky, we can all speak with confidence. Galinsky suggests:
Tap into your fearce mama bear. It can be easiery to speak up when you are defending someone else's best interests.
Step outside yourself. Look at the situations from someone else's perspective.
Signal flexibility. You'll woo your audience by indicating your position isn't rigid and you are open to input.
Ask for advice. Instead of insisting on your position, ask your associates for input and advice to help you reach your goals.
